CANALE is drawn from direct observation: studies of light reflections and the flow of water on the Giudecca Canal, viewed from the fondamenta in front of our factory. The pattern gives the impression of standing at the water's edge — the canal flowing to and from the sea, the factory's steadfast presence behind. Its horizontal directional movement makes CANALE particularly effective on drapery , and on wall applications where the eye follows the water-like lines across the surface. The large repeat is designed for installation at scale. Part of the SEREÑUS collection, Fortuny's last of the first 100 years of production on the Giudecca.
