Itza Fabric
Itza Fabric
ITZA takes its name from the Mayan temples at Chichen Itza on Mexico's Yucatan peninsula, the same source as Fortuny's ITZINA, but expressed in a distinct geometric register. Where ITZINA builds its step-pyramid logic into a large, architecturally dense repeat, ITZA distills it into a stepped diagonal that carries both Mesoamerican structure and the visual momentum of a chevron. Each of the temple's four sides has 91 stairs; combined with the platform on top, the total is 365, the completeness of the year encoded in the count of steps. ITZA carries that numerical precision into its repeat: deliberate, measured, and directional. The stepped geometry makes it particularly effective on drapery where the diagonal movement follows the fabric's hang, and on upholstery where the compressed repeat creates rhythmic visual energy. Part of the CROSSROADS collection.
