MAYAN is a modern interpretation of tribal design from Central America, developed from patterns in Mariano Fortuny's own textile collection. Its checkerboard grid of hatched lines alternates pyramidal forms drawn from traditional Mesoamerican shapes — mountains, rivers, rays of light, plant life — rendered in a densely patterned field that echoes the visual logic of ancient textiles without replicating them. The metallic stampa adds a quality of archaeological preservation: the forms appear as if illuminated from beneath the surface rather than printed on top of it.
