PIOGGIA (Italian for rain) modifies the cylindrical forms of Fortuny's archival CILINDRI pattern, adjusting the scale and proportion of each element to create a surface in motion. The falling metallic marks across the velvet ground evoke rainfall captured mid-descent: constant, directional, and quietly hypnotic at scale. A testament to Venice as much as a textile, PIOGGIA transforms an atmospheric condition into a material one. Its sparse, all-over repeat makes it one of the more spatially generous patterns in the LUCIS collection — adapting fluidly to both large, upholstered surfaces and vertical wall applications. Finished with Fortuny's metallic pigments on a cashmere-cotton ground.
