Gertrude was inspired by a crewel work embroidered bed hanging by Abigail Pett, which she embroidered between 1680-1700 and is now housed at the Victoria and Albert Museum. The bed hanging was first redrawn in the late 19th century by Gertrude Jekyll who was sent by George Percival Baker to Bosworth Hall as part of the renovation of the Hall. Seen here in the Document Green colorway.
Collection: Eldon is a celebration of GP & J Baker’s authentic heritage designs fused with contemporary innovation and creativity. Inspired by their world-renowned archive and rooted in the passion of their founders, George Percival and James Baker, for gardens and exotic textiles, the collection embraces timeless design with a modern twist on scale and color.
