Collection: Japanese Indigo & Textiles

The ReBorn House Japanese Indigo & Textiles line brings together cloth woven and dyed in Japan's great textile regions, described in the terms Japanese weavers use. Aizome (藍染め, natural indigo dyeing) runs through most of the line, from Edo-period stripes such as daimyō-jima (大名縞, feudal-lord stripe), sensuji (千筋, thousand-line stripe) and taki-jima (滝縞, waterfall stripe) to narrow-loom Matsusaka momen (松阪木綿, Matsusaka cotton).

You will also find kasuri (絣, Japanese ikat) in scattered, disordered and spot patterns; heavy sashi-ori (刺し織, woven sashiko); textured fushi-ori (節織, slub-yarn weave); men-asa (綿麻, cotton-hemp); chijimi (縮み, crepe); shijira-ori (しじら織, puckered seersucker); soft Senshu double gauze; and plant dyes such as sumizome (墨染め, ink) and akane-zome (茜染め, madder).

Every fabric is sold by the yard with a 1-yard minimum and works with our pillow, cushion and drapery calculators. Natural dyes vary slightly from lot to lot, so order a sample for color-critical projects.
