TRH5797 Akane-Zome Madder-Dyed Cotton Chijimi Crepe
TRH5797 Akane-Zome Madder-Dyed Cotton Chijimi Crepe
Akane-zome (茜染め, madder dyeing) uses the root of the akane plant, one of the oldest red dyes in Japan, for a warm, earthy rose that deepens gently over time. The cloth is a chijimi (縮み, crepe) woven on traditional shuttle looms with tightly twisted yarns for a crinkled, breathable texture.
Pre-washed, with a slight natural stretch. Lovely for blouses, summer dresses, scarves, sheer-look curtains and soft cushions.
Specifications: Content: 100% Cotton. Width: 41 inches (105 cm). Weight: about 4.5 oz per linear yard (140 g per meter). Hand: lightweight. Technique: Akane-zome (madder plant dye) on chijimi crepe, shuttle loom. Origin: woven in Japan.
Care: Hand wash or gentle machine wash cold, separately. Do not bleach. Dry flat in the shade; do not tumble dry. Professional cleaning recommended for upholstered pieces.
Ordering: Sold by the yard, with a 1-yard minimum; multiple yards are cut as one continuous length. Natural dyes and hand weaving vary slightly from lot to lot, so we recommend a sample for color-critical projects.
