TRH5790 Matsusaka Momen Mijin-Gōshi Aizome Micro Check
TRH5790 Matsusaka Momen Mijin-Gōshi Aizome Micro Check
Mijin-gōshi (微塵格子, "speck" micro-check) is a tiny lattice woven in two shades of natural aizome (藍染め, natural indigo dyeing). This is Matsusaka momen (松阪木綿, Matsusaka cotton), a traditional craft of Mie Prefecture woven on narrow 40 cm looms since the Edo period.
Pre-washed and soft. Ideal for patchwork, kimono and obi accents, visible mending, lampshades, bags and small cushions.
Specifications: Content: 100% Cotton. Width: 16 inches (40 cm). Weight: about 2.3 oz per linear yard (70 g per meter). Hand: lightweight. Technique: Aizome yarn-dyed check, narrow-loom plain weave. Origin: woven in Japan.
Care: Hand wash or gentle machine wash cold, separately. Natural indigo can transfer color with friction, especially when new. Do not bleach. Dry flat in the shade. Professional cleaning recommended for upholstered pieces.
Ordering: Sold by the yard, with a 1-yard minimum; multiple yards are cut as one continuous length. Natural dyes and hand weaving vary slightly from lot to lot, so we recommend a sample for color-critical projects.
