TRH5782 Ise Momen Tenugui Cotton Cloth
TRH5782 Ise Momen Tenugui Cotton Cloth
Ise momen (伊勢木綿, Ise cotton) has been woven in Mie Prefecture since the Edo period, and this narrow 35 cm cloth is the traditional tenugui (手ぬぐい, cotton hand cloth). Fine single yarns with very little twist give it a light, gauze-like touch that grows softer and more absorbent with every wash.
Choose sarashi (晒し, bleached white) or kinari (生成り, undyed ecru). Hem it as tea towels, napkins or furoshiki-style wraps, use it for dyeing projects, or line baskets and drawers.
Specifications: Content: 100% Cotton. Width: 14 inches (35 cm). Weight: about 1.5 oz per linear yard (45 g per meter). Hand: very lightweight. Technique: Loosely twisted single-yarn plain weave. Origin: woven in Japan. Colorways: TRH5782.A Sarashi Bleached White, TRH5782.B Kinari Ecru.
Care: Hand wash or gentle machine wash cold, separately. Do not bleach. Dry flat in the shade; do not tumble dry. Professional cleaning recommended for upholstered pieces.
Ordering: Sold by the yard, with a 1-yard minimum; multiple yards are cut as one continuous length. Natural dyes and hand weaving vary slightly from lot to lot, so we recommend a sample for color-critical projects.
