TRH5783 Asanoha Sashi-Ori Heavyweight Kinari Cotton
TRH5783 Asanoha Sashi-Ori Heavyweight Kinari Cotton
The asanoha (麻の葉, hemp-leaf) star lattice has been used in Japan for about a thousand years as a charm for health and growth. Here it is woven in relief into thick sashi-ori (刺し織, woven sashiko) cotton, the dense, quilted-looking cloth traditionally used for kendo and judo uniforms, then washed once for a soft, lived-in hand.
Undyed kinari (生成り, natural ecru) and very durable: superb for upholstered chairs and benches, ottomans, cushions, bags and outerwear.
Specifications: Content: 100% Cotton. Width: 35 inches (90 cm). Weight: about 12.6 oz per linear yard (390 g per meter). Hand: heavyweight. Technique: Sashi-ori (woven sashiko), dobby weave. Origin: woven in Japan.
Care: Hand wash or gentle machine wash cold, separately. Do not bleach. Dry flat in the shade; do not tumble dry. Professional cleaning recommended for upholstered pieces.
Ordering: Sold by the yard, with a 1-yard minimum; multiple yards are cut as one continuous length. Natural dyes and hand weaving vary slightly from lot to lot, so we recommend a sample for color-critical projects.
