TRH5792 Matsusaka Momen Shiro-Jima Aizome Stripe
TRH5792 Matsusaka Momen Shiro-Jima Aizome Stripe
Most Matsusaka momen (松阪木綿, Matsusaka cotton) is dark indigo; shiro-jima (白縞, white stripe) turns that around with fine, closely spaced aizome (藍染め, natural indigo) stripes on an unbleached ground, fresh and light.
Woven on traditional 40 cm narrow looms and pre-washed. Lovely for patchwork, lampshades, napkins, kimono accents and visible mending.
Specifications: Content: 100% Cotton. Width: 16 inches (40 cm). Weight: about 2.3 oz per linear yard (70 g per meter). Hand: lightweight. Technique: Aizome yarn-dyed stripe, narrow-loom plain weave. Origin: woven in Japan.
Care: Hand wash or gentle machine wash cold, separately. Natural indigo can transfer color with friction, especially when new. Do not bleach. Dry flat in the shade. Professional cleaning recommended for upholstered pieces.
Ordering: Sold by the yard, with a 1-yard minimum; multiple yards are cut as one continuous length. Natural dyes and hand weaving vary slightly from lot to lot, so we recommend a sample for color-critical projects.
