TRH5796 Awa Shijira-Ori Puckered Cotton Seersucker

Shijira-ori (しじら織, puckered weave) is Japan's own seersucker, closely tied to Awa (阿波, present-day Tokushima), the historic heartland of Japanese indigo. Differing yarn tensions create a crinkled, rippled surface that sits away from the skin and lets air move, so it stays cool and needs no ironing.

In deep kon (紺, indigo navy) or soft kinari (生成り, eggshell). Pre-washed. Made for summer shirts, robes, pajamas, light curtains and bedding.

Care: Hand wash or gentle machine wash cold, separately. Natural indigo can transfer color with friction, especially when new. Do not bleach. Dry flat in the shade. Professional cleaning recommended for upholstered pieces.

Ordering: Sold by the yard, with a 1-yard minimum; multiple yards are cut as one continuous length. Natural dyes and hand weaving vary slightly from lot to lot, so we recommend a sample for color-critical projects.
